This 5-week course is designed to introduce students to clay using the potter's wheel and handbuilding techniques. Students will create functional and sculptural works in this class. Demonstrations will include wheel throwing techniques for cylinders, cups, bowls, plates, handles, and trimming. Introductory surface decoration and glazing will be demonstrated to finish works, alongside coil building and pinch techniques. One bag of clay with all glazes and firings are included and additional clay is available for purchase.
Skill Level: No experience necessary!

Instructor: Eliza Weber
Eliza Weber completed her MFA at Arizona State University. Originally from Great Falls, she received her BFA from The University of Montana. She has completed short residencies at Medalta in Alberta, Canada and The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China. Eliza was also an Artist in Residence at Pottery Northwest in Seattle, Washington. She served on the boards of NCECA (National Council on Education of Ceramic Arts) as a Student Director at Large and the Ceramics Research Center. Presently, she serves as Secretary for the NCECA Green Task Force and as a board member for the Urban Art Project. Most recently she worked as Director of Education at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art and will be spending the next two years as a Long Term Resident at the Archie Bray Foundation.
